Italian Specialist

Global Remote Contract Listed 31 Aug 2026

$25 – $40/hour

About this role

Overview

AI produces textbook Italian that still feels off: it forces gender and number agreement mechanically, misses the formal Lei, and leans on wording that sounds translated rather than said. Regional color and everyday idiom are usually where it gives itself away, and a native speaker is who spots it.

As an Italian Expert, you'll judge and correct AI output in Italian, teaching models to write the way Italians actually speak.

What you’ll actually do

  • Evaluate translations between English and Italian for fidelity, rhythm, and register.
  • Rate and rank model output in Italian, flagging stiff agreement, wrong formality, and unnatural idiom.
  • Rewrite what falls short so it reads as native Italian rather than a careful gloss.

Roles this fits

Common backgrounds: Italian Linguist, Bilingual Reviewer, Localization Specialist.

What we look for

  • Native or near-native fluency in Italian.
  • A feel for register, the formal Lei, and regional variation.
  • Clear written English: your explanations are the training signal.
  • No degree required. We care about what you can do, not where you learned it.
