Handshake is recruiting Legal Professionals to contribute to an AI research project. In this program, you’ll apply your expertise to help improve how AI understands real-world professional tasks and language. The Handshake AI program runs year-round, with project opportunities opening periodically across different areas of expertise.

The position is remote and asynchronous - work independently from wherever you are.
Flexible hours and the ability to work remotely, with no minimum commitment to hours.
Project work includes and is not limited to developing industry-specific prompts and evaluating LLM responses.
Learn new skills while contributing to the changing world of AI across various industries.
Placement into a project will be dependent on project availability.
Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of work experience in one or more of the following or similar roles:
Legal Secretaries and Administrative Assistants
Lawyer
Paralegals and Legal Assistants
Judicial Law Clerks
Able to participate in primarily asynchronous work in partnership with leading AI labs.

In this hourly, remote contractor role, you will work as an Attorney / Lawyer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to review AI-generated legal responses and/or create expert legal content, evaluating reasoning quality and step-by-step issue analysis while providing precise written feedback.
Build and review expert utility regulatory analysis tasks used to train and evaluate frontier AI models.
